MOODY SEASONS BY ANTHONY PAUL SWINDALL

TLDR; The above is a chronological list and order of appearance of the pieces in this playlist. They may not all be featured (Op.1-2). For more details on that, read the full text below:

BACKGROUND:
It would require a considerable amount of effort and energy to breakdown each and every score with detailed program notes or behind-the-scenes design choices. Therefore, I will let it speak for itself. The composition dates typically reflect the time period when I first began work on them. For reference, I prefer not to share my scores publicly but will do so if requested for performance. I only consider serious requests. Plus, I find it distracting for the casual listener. It is better to establish the theme and whether active or passive, let the listener come to their own conclusions about them. This is both to protect the work and to prevent it from appearing in unsavory media (even if it seems benign). I do not wish to become the 21st-century equivalent of the Looney Toons composer nor do I care about external validation/critical feedback from other composers. Secondly, artistic expression should not be reduced to mere entertainment. Otherwise, it loses its integrity. Some of you will understand the practicality and philosophy behind this decision. It comes from years of abuse in other industries. Moreover, in the case of Op.1-2, I no longer possess the scores. I may have partial or complete .mp3s, piano rolls, or .midi files for them, but not the direct notation for them. This is why are they are omitted. Unfortunately, I am too busy with new material to go back and transcribe them. You may be able to find fragments of them on Soundcloud . Lastly, my sound library is improving (despite being costly to do so), resulting in better mock-ups, and my style and mixing capabilities are also steadily maturing. For this reason, some of the Op.3 or orchestral works may be spotty in some places. I apologize in advance about that. As I mentioned, I am growing in many areas. This being one. Nevertheless, I never truly expected to share these works with a global public. I primarily write music for myself.

As a disclaimer, I have little interest in traditional publication for musical scores. This differs from my approach to literature, which I have been active in for a decade now. While a good portion of my overall works have been commercialized or critically acclaimed, I enjoy experimentation, which can lead to unmarketability, obscurity, or creative differences with editors and publishers. What matters most is innovation as a continuation of tradition, rather than a clear departure from it, or mindless nostalgic reverence of it. At times, this material may be difficult to digest or understand, but I hope you can appreciate it. My aim is to be as prolific and profound as possible, when the muse serves me. In retrospect, it is challenging to be both contemporaneous and timeless. Yet, oscillating between the two, propels to produce more focused content.

GOALS: I plan to release one more composition before the end of the year and, in addition, am preparing to unveil a thematic collection of short stories and poetry in the near future.

BRIEF RESUME: My short stories and poems have earned multiple awards in literary circles, and now my contemporary classical music audio mock-ups are also available for public exploration (as evident by this post). My goal is to hopefully do the impossible and master all these diverse mediums. Thankfully, I am no longer a slave to past endeavors (commercial songwriting, illustration, etc.) but can enjoy artistic pursuits in occasional game design or modding, music, and literature more intently. I have used many pseudonyms/alias/usernames in the past, so not everything is available under my given name. Obviously, graphic design and/or videography efforts are still relevant, when they correspond to these primary interests. They are almost impossible to avoid when distributing other media online in this era. I do not particularly find them enjoyable anymore due to affiliation with the promotional element of all this...

As a final note, for what it's worth, my educational background is in social and neuro-psychology and computer science, with a focus on software design. Although I no longer write code professionally, I often spend time in introspection and private study, and I am periodically working on designing an original tabletop RPG. I have no idea when I will finish it... As you can tell by now, I have many endeavors. Thankfully, few of them are academic or business-oriented anymore.

SOLICITATION: There is an open-source and freelance nature to some of my past efforts, so I am also eager to contribute to or collaborate on creative projects such as games and film productions, if possible. While these interests may not be directly connected to my main body of work, I remain fascinated by the concept of liminal spaces and the artistic aesthetics of René Magritte, Storm Thorgersen, and Dreamcore, and anything that remotely stinks of them. If you are working on a project, even if it is only a demo, that embodies or synthesizes these nostalgic yet eerie themes, I would love to hear from you. If you do not receive an immediate response, please be patient -- I will reply as soon as possible. I am extremely busy with being a husband, father, juggling multiple artistic projects, and catholic charity work, so all apologies in advance.

Even if none of this seems relevant to you, contact me. I am extremely honest and if I do not feel competent in participating with you on something, I will tell you directly; without wasting either party's time. The only thing I ask is that we not discuss financial or marketing aspects in advance. It hampers my creativity. If I wanted to be a salesman, I would have started an advertisement company. That said, if you are affiliated with an established studio, this may differ. For the one-person developer or small team, I am more than happy to do whatever I can to meet your needs. If anything, I hope my work shows a range of diversity and variety. While I prefer acoustic instrumentation in my classical work, I have experience and interest in electronic, so do not fret if your project demands it. Finally, the same applies to ambient music. I do not have a personal preference for it myself, but if needed, I am willing to provide it.

I hope this update has been interesting for you. I have lived an eventful life and can only hope to make it a richer experience by sharing it with you.

*NOTE: While I began several projects on here in 2021, I was unable to complete some of them due to other commitments. I apologize if any promises or expectations were unfulfilled. For those who have downloaded my past contents or donated to me, you have my sincerest appreciation.
